Office notices for residents of CITYSCAPES buildings.

  1. NOTICE TO TENANTS OF ALL PROPERTIES: NATURAL GAS DETECTOR INSTALLATION

    • NYC law (Local Law 157 of 2016, as amended by Local Law 102 of 2025) requires a natural gas detector in each apartment by January 1, 2027.
    • You must provide access for installation. Your building's super will attempt access and installation during normal business hours. If you are not available, access must be arranged by you by December 15, 2026. Contact your building's super or management to arrange access.
    • Management has paid for the detector. Under HPD rules, you must reimburse $25 per detector, payable within one year of installation. The charge will be added to your rent bill.
    • If a detector must be replaced or reinstalled because you removed, disabled, damaged, or lost it, HPD allows a charge of $25 per detector for a detector "installed as a result of the occupant's failure to maintain the detector, or where the detector has been lost or damaged by the occupant."
    • Do not tamper with, disconnect, remove, or paint over the detector. Tampering is unlawful.
